Hello and welcome! My name is Monique, and I am the Director of Sound Abilities Speech Pathology as well as an allied health assistant within the practice. I enjoy supporting our team and working closely with clients to help them build confidence in their communication and stay connected with the people and activities that matter most to them.
One of the areas I particularly enjoy supporting is working with adults, especially those living with neurological conditions. I have a special interest in SPEAK OUT!® therapy for Parkinson’s, which focuses on strengthening the voice and improving communication so people can continue to participate fully in everyday conversations and activities.
I also enjoy supporting clients with Sounds-Write literacy intervention for children, adolescents, and adults, helping people of all ages build strong reading and spelling skills through a structured, evidence-based approach.
Recently, I have started running an adult social connection group, which uses games and shared activities to help participants practise communication skills in a relaxed and supportive environment. The group focuses on building confidence, fostering friendships and creating opportunities for meaningful social interaction. Participants also have opportunities to practise these skills in real-life settings within the community, helping them apply what they learn in the clinic to everyday situations.
As Director, I am passionate about helping create a welcoming, community-focused practice where clients and families feel supported and our team can provide high-quality, evidence-based services.
I love being part of a clinic that values creativity, compassion and connection. Seeing people grow in confidence and reconnect with others through communication is one of the most rewarding parts of the work we do.
When I’m not at the clinic, I enjoy spending time outdoors and being part of the local community here on Bribie Island.
Thank you for taking the time to learn a little about me. I look forward to meeting you and supporting your communication journey.
