Speech Therapy For Children
Bribie Island | Moreton Bay | North Brisbane

Speech Therapy for Children
At Sound Abilities Speech Pathology, we provide personalised, evidence-based speech therapy to help children develop strong communication, speech and literacy skills. Our sessions are play-based, engaging and tailored to each child, helping them build confidence and succeed at home, school and in the community.

Early Language and Communication (Ages 0–5)
We support young children who are experiencing delays in their early speech and language development. This includes children who are:
  • Late to say their first words
  • Having difficulty combining words into phrases or sentences
  • Hard for others to understand
  • Struggling to express their wants, needs and ideas
Early support can make a significant difference in a child’s long-term communication and learning outcomes.

Speech Sound Disorders
We work with children who have difficulty pronouncing sounds or words clearly. These challenges can affect a child’s intelligibility and confidence when communicating.
We provide assessment and treatment for:
  • Articulation disorders (difficulty producing individual sounds)
  • Phonological disorders (patterns of sound errors)
  • Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS) – a motor planning disorder affecting speech production
  • Dysarthria – speech difficulties caused by muscle weakness or neurological conditions
Our therapy uses evidence-based approaches to help children improve speech clarity and develop more accurate sound patterns.

Reading and Spelling Difficulties

We support children who are struggling with learning to read and spell, including those with literacy delays or dyslexia-related difficulties.

Our clinic uses the Sounds-Write Phonics Program, a highly structured, evidence-based phonics program that teaches children the skills they need to become confident readers and spellers. This approach focuses on:
  • Understanding how sounds map to letters
  • Building decoding and spelling skills
  • Developing strong reading fluency and comprehension
